Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of Gallbladder: An Incidental Finding of Acute Cholecystitis With Cholelithiasis

چکیده
The biliary tract's most frequent malignancy is gallbladder cancer (GBC). Due to the growing number of laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedures, majority GBC cases in United States are diagnosed as incidental findings. Roughly 5% reported adenocarcinomas mucinous type. Mucinous adenocarcinoma tumors contain more than 50% mucin materials and clinically characterized by poor prognosis. Initial presentation can mimic acute cholecystitis or cholelithiasis; meanwhile, histological findings post-cholecystectomy main diagnostic criteria gallbladder. This case presents a patient who has been with cholelithiasis subsequently underwent cholecystectomy. Histopathological examination specimen was consistent adenocarcinoma, subtype be specific.

Appendiceal Mucinous Cystadenoma - An Incidental Finding
Mucocele of appendix is a concern for practicing surgeons because of a significant number of cases found incidentally or being misdiagnosed as acute appendicitis preoperatively. This further presents a dilemma with regard to the surgery to be performed, in case it is found incidentally on the operating table because if mucocele is treated incorrectly pseudomyxoma peritonei, which is a malignant...

Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC), a rare form of chronic cholecystitis which fairly mimics gallbladder cancer, was first discovered and reported by McCoy et al. [1]. Although it is considered as benign disease but often reported its close association with gallbladder cancer (GBC) [2,3]. Clinical signs and symptoms are similar to acute and chronic cholecystitis, thus preoperative diagnosi...

متن کاملPancreatic heterotopia in the gallbladder: an incidental finding after cholecystectomy.
Ectopic pancreas in the gallbladder is found very rarely in histological examination after cholecystectomy. The etiology of this entity is not yet clear, but there exist several hypotheses about its origin. Our histological study revealed both exocrine and endocrine components of pancreatic tissue as shown by H&E and immunohistochemical staining of a gallbladder sections of a 55-year old man. E...
متن کاملAssociation of the presence of Helicobacter in gallbladder tissue with cholelithiasis and cholecystitis.
The presence of Helicobacter DNA species has been investigated in the biliary epithelium of patients with biliary diseases. However, conflicting results have been observed that may have been due to the small number of subjects studied, difficulty in obtaining a healthy control group, absence of controlling for confounding factors, or differences among populations. Therefore, we investigated the...
